DEPARTMENT: Betty J. Taylor Early Learning Academy (TELA)

JOB SUMMARY:  The Birth to Three Teacher Assistant will engage children in activities designed to promote social, emotional, physical and developmental growth in preparation to reach School Readiness Goals. Utilize Program Curriculum to work with children on a daily basis to address individual educational goals. Work with families to support their child in their educational success.

COMPENSATION:  

• TA I $21.48 hr. DOE
• TA II $23.22 hr. DOE

The Signing Bonus is paid out in two installments:

• 1st installment of the bonus is paid on your FIRST paycheck.
• 2nd installment of the bonus is paid after successful completion of your 90 day probationary period.

Eligibility:

• Signing bonuses are for select positions only and will be indicated on the job posting.
• Current Employee department transfers are not eligible for signing bonus.
• Any former Employee who has resigned or been dismissed within the past 12 months is not eligible for a signing bonus.

MINIMUM REQUIRED EDUCATION

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
• CDA or First stackable for Teacher Assistant II

MINIMUM RELATED EXPERIENCE

• Six (6) months of experience working with children (birth to three) and families in childcare, education, classroom or related field.

REQUIRED LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS/PREREQUISITES

• Negative TB Skin Test or chest x-ray. 
• Pediatric CPR/First Aid Certificate. 
• Blood Borne Pathogens Certificate. 
• Food Handlers Permit. 
• Must abide by the departments MMR (Measles, mumps and Rubella) vaccination policy.
• 30 hours of STARS training. *Will allow thirty (30) days to obtain.
• Must be able to pass an Agility exam to determine if physically capable to perform the job functions.
• Employment is contingent on successful completion of a pre-employment background check and MERIT background check.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:  This is a regular full-time position.
